Billy Moyer Tops Stout Field for Second Illini 100 Title; Preps
for Clayhill on Saturday!
(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Billy Moyer captured
his fifth victory of the early 2010 racing season over the April 9-10
weekend at the Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois! The World
of Outlaws Late Model Series-sanctioned 'Illini 100' drew a stout field
of fifty Dirt Late Models to the 1/4-mile fairgrounds venue. Billy timed
in ninth fastest in WOOLMS qualifying on Friday night and later ran
second in his stacked heat race behind local hero Shannon Babb.
After redrawing a seven prior to the 'Illini 100' feature event on
Saturday, Billy rolled off from the inside of the fourth row in the
100-lapper. "Mr. Smooth" quickly pointed his #21 Victory Circle
by Moyer racecar to the front of the field and eventually took the lead
on lap sixty-four. Billy then waged a tremendous war with Shannon Babb
for the point, weaving in and out of lapped traffic, before taking the
checkers and the $20,000 payday ahead of Babb, Tim McCreadie, Brian
Birkhofer, and Don O'Neal. You can view complete results from Billy's
second 'Illini 100' title by clicking on www.worldofoutlaws.com.
"Farmer City was a great show last weekend and I was glad to come
out on top of a wild battle with (Shannon) Babb," exclaimed Moyer
today via telephone. "Lapped traffic was tough throughout the race,
but we were able to work the bottom of the track a little better than
Shannon. I always enjoy racing up in the Midwest, as the fans turn out
in droves, and hopefully we put on a good show for them. It has been
a solid start to our season so far and maybe we can get on a little
roll heading into Clayhill this weekend!"
The Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team made the decision this afternoon
to start preparing for a single event this upcoming weekend. Clayhill
Motorsports in Atwood, Tennessee will host a $7,500 to win Southern
All Star Dirt Racing Series (SAS) show this Saturday night, April 17.
Billy captured the win in the last big Dirt Late Model race held at
Clayhill, as he laid claim to a $6,000 UMP Summer Nationals victory
last June. Additional information concerning this race can be found
